When you pick up the keys to the car, you make a conscious decision to change lives. The few paces you take along the hallway, down the stairs, in the lift or along the garden path to your vehicle are not enough to be beneficial to you or your health.

Then, when you turn the key in the ignition, you set in motion a chain of events that has not changed for over a century. A tiny spark ignites materials that were created millions of years ago. A finite supply of precious elements and minerals are destroyed and transformed into products that are too difficult to tame.

Regardless of whether you drive five hundred metres or five thousand, the cost incurred is arguably far higher than the shopping you purchase on the journey. On the way home, the same process commences, exuding fumes, heat and poisons.

In doing so, your vehicle destroys the home of other living beings on the planet. You will also help to kill, according to most experts. That's not nice.

There is an alternative. Depending on where you live, taking public transport can be easy, inexpensive, safer and it helps save lives. The planet is not in danger, you are.
