Football Galore

It's hard to imagine any football or soccer tournament without German participation. People here are as crazy about football as in any South American nation and there are some ten thousand football clubs, associations and groups in the country.

The spectrum from amateur players through the leagues to the strong teams at the pinnacle of the game is as diverse and colourful as can be expected in this powerhouse of sport. Whilst it is naturally considered mostly a men's sport, the women's national team is strong and has won many titles. The FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 is being held in Germany.
